Stone & Oil
Driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces.
Stone Kote Construction is based in Greene. Our office is on Echo Lake Rd. and our gravel yard is on County Rd 32.
Also called stone and oil, tar and chip, or chip seal.
Home Base
Greene sits in the Chenango River valley along Route 12, with farm fields on the flat ground and wooded hills rising on either side. Driveways here range from a short pull off a village street to a long farm lane that climbs away from the road. What a driveway needs depends mostly on how long it is and where the water goes when it rains.
Loose gravel is where many country driveways start, and it holds up until a hard rain or a spring thaw pushes it around. Stone and oil keeps the natural stone look and gives you a surface that stays in place. It does not need regular sealing, and it handles the freeze and thaw cycles that come with a Chenango County winter.
Services
Our office and our yard are both in Greene, which makes a site visit easy to schedule. We look at the base, check the pitch, measure the square footage, and give you a quote before any work is booked.
Driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces.
Pitch, slope, and drainage set before any surface goes down.
Walkways, landings, retaining walls, and more.
Topsoil, stone, gravel, and more, Monday through Friday.
We handle the grading and base work along with the stone and oil, so the same company prepares the ground and finishes the surface. Excavating and grade work are also available on their own.

The Process
We set the pitch for drainage and compact a gravel base. Our dump trucks remove dirt and debris from the site.
Hot oil goes down over the compacted base and binds the surface together.
Small stone is spread over the oil and rolled into place for a natural stone finish.
Where We Work
From the village of Greene along Route 12 and out into the hills on either side of the river, we cover the Greene area. Oxford is to the north and Binghamton is to the south, and we are close to all of it.
Nearby communities we also serve include Chenango Forks and Whitney Point.
Questions
Oil and stone is also called stone and oil, tar and chip, or chip seal. We compact a gravel base, apply hot oil, spread small stone over it, and roll it into place. The result keeps a natural stone look and is a cost effective alternative to asphalt.

Stone Kote was not only professional but they did an outstanding job on our driveway. Their price was competitive and our driveway went from a loose stone mud pit to a level and new driveway. We would highly recommend this company!
